Senior Congress spokesperson Teena Choudhary alleged a multi-crore scam in Verka over subsidized cattle fodder seeds Demand raised for a Vigilance probe and CBI inquiry into the matter Chandigarh 23 May ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : At a press conference held in Chandigarh today, senior Congress spokesperson Teena Choudhary along with Punjab Kisan Union president Charanjeet Singh Brar from Hoshiarpur alleged a multi-crore scam in Verka Milkfed related to subsidized cattle fodder seeds provided to farmers. The leaders stated that in 2025, Verka Milkfed had floated tenders to provide hybrid maize seeds to farmers at a 30 percent subsidy. The tender was reportedly awarded to a Mansa-based firm, Nav-Durga Trading Company. It was alleged that the firm only submitted bills for the seeds, while no actual supply was made. Chandigarh 23 May ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Today, a grand award ceremony was organized by Chandigarh Sahit Akademi at Rani Lakshmi Bai Auditorium, Sector-38, Chandigarh to honor the honorable writers and litterateurs of the year 2024. The chief guest of the event was Professor Rattan Singh, Vice Chancellor, Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, while the event was presided over by Dr. Madhav Kaushik, Chairman of the National Sahit Akademi. At the beginning of the event, Chandigarh Sahit Akademi Chairman Dr. Manmohan Singh welcomed all the guests and litterateurs and said that Chandigarh Sahit Akademi is continuously working for the preservation and development of literature, language and culture. He said that literature is the mirror of society and writers give a new direction to society through their pen. He congratulated the honorable authors and said that their creativity will play an important role in connecting the new generation with literature. He also said that the writers of Chandigarh have created their unique identity at the national level and the academy will continue to encourage writers through literary activities in the future as well.

Chief Guest Prof. Rattan Singh said in his address that literature is the soul of the society, which connects man with sensitivity, culture and human values. He said that strong literature plays an important role in giving the right direction to the society and awakening social consciousness. He further said that writers and poets highlight the realities of the time through their writing and pave the way for positive change in the society. Calling on the youth to connect with literature, he said that only a society connected with books and ideas can become culturally competent and aware. Chairman of the Rashtriya Sahitya Akademi Dr. Madhav Kaushik said in his presidential address that people's interest in literature is continuously increasing at present, which is a positive sign for the society. He said that the new generation is expressing its feelings through poetry, stories, writing and books and is giving new dimensions to literature. He said that literature is not just a means of entertainment, but is a force that connects society with human values, sensitivity and thoughtfulness. The growing attraction of people towards books and literary events even in the digital age is proof that the relevance of literature will always remain. On this occasion, the Vice-Chairman of the Academy Dr. Anish Garg and Secretary Subhash Bhaskar were also present.
Under the ‘Book of the Year Award’, Rajveer Deshwal, Professor Yojana Rawat, Vijay Kapoor, Lily Swaran, Bahadur Singh Gausal, Harbans Kaur Gill, Pankaj Malviya and Rajendra Nishesh were honored with a commemorative plaque and cash prize.Among the writers selected under the Book Publication Grant Scheme, Prem Vij, Shashi Prabha, Dhirja Sharma, Pragya Sharda, Mohanlal Jat, Alka Kansra, Rajendra Dhawan, Brij Bhushan, Manoj Kumar, Ravinder Tandon, Harleen Kaur, Davinder Kaur, Simranjit Kaur Grewal, Hardev Chauhan, Gurdarshan Singh Mavi, Harish Jain, Subhash Sharma, Rajesh Atre and Satish Thind were honored with grant money and certificates. At the end of the event, Dr. Anish Garg thanked all the guests, writers, honored authors and the audience present. He said that Chandigarh Sahit Akademi will continue to provide a meaningful platform to the authors through such literary events in the future as well. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all of them for their cooperation, participation and dignified attendance and expressed special gratitude to all the members who contributed to the successful organization of the event.
