Chandigarh 20 June ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today said attempts by the ruling Aam Admi Party (AAP) to spread a false narrative regarding Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s deposition at Sri Akal Takht Sahib and its attempt to stage dharnas against the Shiromani Akali Dal had boomeranged. Addressing a press conference here, SAD Chief Spokesman Arshdeep Singh Kler said AAP had attempted to gherao and stage protest at district headquarters of the SAD but its attempts failed miserably as they could not muster support of requisite numbers despite help from the police force. Chandigarh 30 September ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today said that the Aam Aadmi Party government was trying to pass on the entire responsibility for the flood relief and rehabilitation to the centre, in an attempt to wriggle out of the situation. Reacting to the conclusion of the special session of the Punjab Legislative Assembly and the passage of a resolution, Warring noted that it was the primary responsibility of the state government to provide relief and rehabilitation to the flood-hit people of the state. “We all know that the BJP government at the centre is completely hostile towards Punjab and we don’t expect it to provide any substantial relief to us”, he observed, while asking, “what is the Punjab government doing on its own?” “Token resolution of seeking relief and criticizing the centre are not going to fill the empty stomachs of those who have been devastated by floods”, he said, while asking, what is the plan-B of the state government if centre refuses proper relief, which in all likelihood it will. The PCC president asked the state government if it can arrange thousands of crores of rupees through debt, for extravagantly splurging on advertisements, why can’t it arrange money for the flood hit people of Punjab. Warring said, Punjab has a long drawn battle to fight with the BJP government at the centre, but that does not mean people should be forced to wait and denied immediate relief and assistance, which they need urgently. The PCC president also took a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party for organizing a “mock” assembly session outside the Vidhan Sabha. “Better spend this energy and time on reaching out to your government in Delhi and get some relief package for our flood hit people”, he told them.
