Former Mayor's Kalia is shedding crocodile tears: Hypocritical video surfaces before elections
Chandigarh 30 October ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Issuing a statement, State Congress spokesperson Narendra Chaudhary said that this is a blatant display of political opportunism. The former mayor, who remained completely silent for four years on the ongoing harassment of sanitation workers by the current contractor, Lion Company, has suddenly become active. Chaudhary said that issues such as delayed monthly salaries and the lack of essential soap and other basic safety equipment have troubled these frontline workers. He said that the former mayor neglected them even during his tenure and showed complete indifference to their welfare. Now, with the municipal elections approaching, he has released a video statement expressing concern for the same workers, saying that he has previously ignored them. This superficial drama cannot fool anyone. Sections of our society, especially sanitation workers and other marginalized workers in our community, have long recognized their selfishness and truly rejected them*. The public demands true accountability, not election-time drama. It is time for leaders who prioritize the dignity and rights of every worker, not those who exploit their struggles for personal gain.
