Chandigarh 30 October ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : In the annual elections of the Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) Union, the Sher Panel emerged victorious this time. Election Officer Malkiat Singh Papneja and his assistants Bhupinder Singh, Gurmel Singh, and Kuldeep Singh informed that four panels were in the fray this year and the elections were conducted peacefully. Announcing the results, they said that out of a total of 1,553 votes, 1,507 votes were cast, of which 9 votes were declared invalid, making 1,498 valid votes in total.
It was a four-cornered contest, with the main competition between the Sher Party and the Rail Engine Party. The winning Sher Panel secured 695 votes, while the Rail Engine Party got 681 votes. Apart from these, the Cross Mashaal Party received 73 votes and the Dhanush Party got 49 votes. From the Sher Panel, Azad Singh contested for the post of President, Satinder Singh for Vice President, Balbir Singh for General Secretary, and Govind for Treasurer.
