Nazar-e-Mushaira at GEI: A Memorable Confluence of Literature and Sensitivity
Chandigarh 27 February ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : A soulful evening of poetry and expression unfolded at the campus of GEI, Medicity, New Chandigarh, as Nazar-e-Mushaira was successfully organized on Friday under the joint aegis of Punjabi Sahit Sabha, Mohali (Registered) and GEI. The literary gathering witnessed an enthusiastic presence of poetry lovers from across the city. The event commenced with a warm welcome address, followed by an insightful speech by Dr. S.P.S. Grewal, who highlighted the vital role of literature in shaping social consciousness. Organizer Kamal Dosanjh then took charge of the proceedings and steered the program forward.
The mushaira featured distinguished poets and shayars from across the country, who captivated the audience with their evocative ghazals and nazms. Among those who graced the stage were Darshan Buttar, Gurdeep Gul, Sushil Dosanjh, Trilochan Lochi, Mahendra Kumar Sani, Justice Hasnain Sahib, Sukhwinder Amrit, Amardeep Singh, Sarabjit Kaur Jass, Sandeep Jaswal, Nand Kishore Anhad, and Harpreet Kaur Sandhu. Their verses resonated deeply with the audience. Sukhwinder Amrit’s poignant lines, “Iyun na tu pher akhiyan, iyun na nakaar mainu,” stirred emotions, while Trilochan Lochi’s thought-provoking verse, “Jisdiyan akhiyan wade sapne dekhdiyaan, ik din usde pairin ambar hunda ae,” reflected hope and aspiration.
Sushil Dosanjh’s evocative expression, “Tusi je chup ho tan ki hai, akh da bolda paani,” and Nand Kishore Anhad’s imagery, “Tumhari aankhen purani Dilli, naya musafir bhatak gaya hai,” drew heartfelt applause. Harpreet Kaur Sandhu, Sarabjit Kaur Jass, and Sandeep Jaswal added depth with their powerful renditions, while Mahendra Sani and Amardeep Singh beautifully portrayed love and longing through their verses. Prof. Gurdeep Gul moved listeners with emotional intensity, and Darshan Buttar’s reflective lines on time and life left a lasting impression.The evening concluded with a vote of thanks by Madam Kamal Dosanjh. The program was effectively anchored by Dr. Sukhbir Grewal, Dr. Mangla Dogra, and Mrs. Asha, and formally closed by the GEI staff. Nazar-e-Mushaira once again reaffirmed that literature remains a powerful medium to connect society and give voice to human emotions.
