Awareness Programme cum Exhibition held on Energy Conservation and Sustainable Building Code
Chandigarh 16 March ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : An awareness programme on the Energy Conservation and Sustainable Building Code (ECSBC) along with an exhibition on energy-efficient building materials was held at Hotel Mount View, Sector-10, Chandigarh. The programme was organised by the Engineering Department of the Chandigarh Administration in collaboration with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency to promote energy conservation and sustainable construction practices. The event began with registration followed by the welcome of the chief guest and other dignitaries and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Welcoming the participants, UT Chandigarh Chief Engineer C.B. Ojha highlighted the importance of energy conservation and the adoption of efficient building practices.
In her special address, Prerna Puri (IAS), Secretary Engineering, Chandigarh Administration, emphasised the need for sustainable and energy-efficient buildings to meet future environmental and urban development challenges. The concluding remarks were delivered by Pawan Kumar Sharma, Head EMC/SDA, UT Chandigarh. The dignitaries later visited the exhibition stalls displaying a range of energy-efficient construction materials and technologies. During the technical session, Architect Jit Kumar Gupta gave an overview of energy conservation and the Energy Conservation and Sustainable Building Code, along with an introduction to sustainable and green buildings.
Several companies also made technical presentations on energy-efficient construction solutions. These included cool roof paint by Vinayak Industries, cool roof tiles by H & R Johnson Tiles, AAC blocks and green building waterproofing by Ultratech Cement Ltd., and energy-efficient construction materials by Mahalaxmi Bricks Company. An exhibition showcasing energy-efficient materials and technologies such as star-rated appliances, cool roof tiles, energy-efficient switchgear, power quality equipment, and energy management systems was also organised. The programme attended by 125 people concluded with a question-and-answer session .
