Shimla 23 March ( PDL ) : Shimla is all set to welcome the Xpo Originals GI Mahotsav from 26th to 29th March 2026 at The Peterhof Hotel, Chaura Maidan, Shimla, bringing a first-of-its-kind showcase of 100+ Geographical Indication (GI) certified products from across the country. The exhibition offers residents and visitors in Himachal Pradesh a unique opportunity to explore and shop authentic, region-specific products—directly from the artisans and producers themselves. The GI Mahotsav is an initiative supported by the Ministry of MSME, organised by the India SME Forum, and curated by CIPRPF. The event aims to promote India’s rich heritage of GI-certified products while creating a direct marketplace for traditional artisans, farmers, and small businesses to connect with consumers.
Visitors can explore an extensive range of GI-certified offerings, including handwoven sarees, textiles, jewellery, handicrafts, home décor, fabrics, organic and agricultural products, spices, syrups, footwear, fruits, toys, and other region-specific specialties. Each product carries a unique GI tag, assuring authenticity, superior quality, and a deep cultural connection to its place of origin. By bringing together these original, high-quality products across 100+ categories, the Mahotsav enables visitors in Shimla to experience India’s diverse craftsmanship under one roof. It also emphasizes direct-from-source purchasing, ensuring genuine products while supporting the livelihoods of artisans and local communities across the country.
With a strong focus on awareness and accessibility, the GI Mahotsav serves as a platform to educate consumers about the importance of GI tags and the need to preserve traditional skills and indigenous products. The exhibition will be open daily from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm, inviting people from Shimla and nearby regions to discover, experience, and celebrate India’s vibrant cultural and artisanal heritage.
