Questions Raised Over Deteriorating Law and Order in Chandigarh, ‘Aapda Mitra’ Role Under Scrutiny; Prem Pal Chauhan Targets Administration
Chandigarh 18 March ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Amid rising concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation in Chandigarh, political rhetoric has intensified. Prem Pal Chauhan, a leader of the “Aapki Awaaz Party,” has sharply criticized the functioning of the Chandigarh administration and police, raising questions about the role of ‘Aapda Mitras.’ Chauhan questioned when the ‘Aapda Mitras,’ who were trained during Operation “Sindoor,” would actually be deployed. Taking a dig at the authorities, he said that consecutive incidents of firing over the past two days and a murder that occurred merely 200 feet from the SSP office have exposed serious lapses in the city’s security system.
He alleged that if the Chandigarh Police is facing a shortage of resources or reach, it should seek assistance from the ‘Aapda Mitras.’ “If the administration is unwilling to involve Aapda Mitras, then workers of the ‘Aapki Awaaz Party’ are ready at all times to contribute towards the city’s safety. We will extend support wherever required,” Chauhan stated. Chauhan further remarked that the city’s law and order situation appears to be “collapsing” and urged the administration to take immediate and concrete steps to restore public confidence.
