Skill Development Exhibition Organized at the Detachment Headquarters of the 13th Battalion
Under the guidance of Skill Development Champion Commandant Kamal Sisodia, women are being provided training in various skills such as Phulkari embroidery, pickle making, knitting and stitching, crochet work, Punjabi jutti decoration, and beekeeping.
Chandigarh 10 March ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Known for her consistent efforts towards women empowerment, social welfare and skill development, Commandant Kamal Sisodiya organised a Skill Development Exhibition and Health Awareness Programme at the Detachment Headquarters of 13 Battalion on the occasion of International Women’s Day. During her tenure in Punjab, Commandant Kamal Sisodiya has actively worked to empower women, particularly the families of personnel and women from nearby communities, encouraging them towards self-reliance and financial independence. Under her guidance, women have been trained in Phulkari embroidery, pickle making, knitting, stitching, crochet work, Punjabi Juti decoration and beekeeping, while also producing a range of handmade products such as pickles, soaps, candles, perfumes, paintings, handicrafts, crochet items, Phulkari work, stitched garments and decorated Punjabi Jutis. She has also encouraged women to form Self Help Groups (SHGs) to strengthen their collective economic independence.
A Skill Development Exhibition was organised to showcase these creations and the outcomes of these initiatives, providing women with a platform to display their skills and confidence. A free health check-up camp was also organised for women and children of the families of personnel, where awareness on hygiene, nutrition and women’s health was provided. Reflecting her compassion for vulnerable sections of society, Commandant Kamal Sisodiya also invited and honoured Divyang (specially-abled) women and acid attack survivors, ensuring their participation with dignity and respect. Women who had demonstrated outstanding achievements in various skill-based activities during the year were also felicitated. Through such initiatives, Commandant Kamal Sisodiya continues to inspire confidence, self-reliance and social participation among women, making the celebration of Women’s Day a meaningful step towards inclusive empowerment.
