Good Friday Observed with Reverence at Christ Church CNI, Sector 18, Chandigarh
Chandigarh 03 April ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The holy occasion of Good Friday was observed with deep reverence at Christ Church CNI, Sector 18, Chandigarh. Prayer services, conducted by Christian devotees, began early in the morning at the church and continued until the afternoon. During these services, children also sang hymns in praise of Lord Jesus Christ.
Rev. Rajan Sharda, Presbyter-in-Charge of Christ Church CNI, Sector 18, Chandigarh, highlighted the significance of Good Friday in his message. He stated that this day serves as a reminder of the great sacrifice Lord Jesus Christ made on the cross for the salvation of all humanity. He added that this day inspires us to embrace the spirit of love, forgiveness, self-sacrifice, and service in our own lives. He explained that, within the Christian faith, Good Friday is regarded as the most sacred and solemn day of mourning, observed to commemorate the sacrifice and crucifixion of Jesus Christ. He further noted that special prayer services are held in churches on this day—particularly between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM—a period traditionally believed to mark the time Lord Jesus spent on the cross. These services typically involve fasting, periods of silence, Bible readings, and contemplation on the sufferings of Christ.He further called upon everyone to follow the teachings of Lord Jesus and to promote peace, brotherhood, and harmony within society, thereby contributing to the creation of a just and harmonious community. On this occasion, special prayer services were organized at the church, in which devotees participated with profound reverence and devotion.
In this regard, Stephen Prakash Masih, Secretary of Christ Church CNI, Sector 18, Chandigarh, stated in his address that Good Friday is not merely a religious occasion, but a day that conveys a message of introspection and service to humanity. He appealed to everyone to embrace the message of this day in their lives and to strengthen love, peace, and harmony within society. While providing details regarding the programs organized by the church, he also expressed his gratitude for the cooperation extended by all the devotees. Daisy K. B. Shan, the Treasurer, also conveyed her message on this occasion, wishing for peace, unity, and prosperity for all.
