IMPCC Meeting 2026 Focuses on Strengthening Publicity Strategies for Key Government Initiatives
Thrust Upon Synergized Use of Media to Counter Misinformation on Government Schemes
Chandigarh 24 April ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The Press Information Bureau (PIB), Government of India, convened a meeting of the Inter Media Publicity Coordination Committee (IMPCC) to deliberate on enhancing communication and outreach strategies for flagship programmes of the Central Government. The meeting placed special emphasis on ongoing Census operations and the availability of petroleum products and LPG in the region. The meeting was held at the Directorate of Census Operations, Janganana Bhawan, Sector-19, Chandigarh. Officers of various Central & State Government departments participated in the meeting.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Lalit Jain, Director, Census Department, Haryana, provided an overview of the ongoing outreach initiatives being undertaken in the state to support Census activities and ensure wider public participation. Providing key inputs on awareness initiatives related to petroleum supply, Anjani Kumar, General Manager, Indian Oil Corporation Limited, clarified the current position regarding availability and supply of petroleum products and LPG in the region. He assured that adequate stocks are being maintained across all retail outlets and LPG distributorships to meet consumer demand without disruption. Shri Kumar also outlined the awareness drives being undertaken by Indian Oil to prevent panic buying and hoarding of LPG and petroleum products, and urged departments to support in disseminating factual information to the public.
Presiding over the IMPCC, Sapna, Deputy Director, Press Information Bureau & Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting underlined the crucial role of integrated media outreach in taking government schemes to the last mile. Reaffirming PIB & CBC’s commitment, she assured all departments of full support in designing targeted publicity campaigns, creating multilingual content, and amplifying key messages on flagship initiatives like Census activities and petroleum conservation programmes.Earlier, Sheenam Jain, Assistant Director, PIB & CBC, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, welcomed representatives from various Central Government departments across the tricity and highlighted the importance of coordinated communication efforts. During the meeting, members actively shared their insights and suggestions to enhance the effectiveness of communication strategies. They also presented updates on recent publicity initiatives undertaken by their respective departments and outlined planned activities for the coming months. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Manjit Pawar, who expressed gratitude to all participants for their valuable contributions and active participation in the IMPCC Meeting.
