Sitar Performance Draws Thousands to Omaxe New Chandigarh
New Chandigarh 18 April ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : A large gathering was witnessed at Omaxe New Chandigarh as over 12,000 people attended ‘Sitar for Mental Health’, a live performance by noted sitarist Rishabh Rikhiram Sharma. The audience, comprising residents and music enthusiasts from across the Tricity, began arriving well before the programme, reflecting keen interest in the event. The recital opened on a slow, meditative note and gradually moved through a range of compositions, balancing calm, reflective passages with more structured and rhythmic segments.
At several points during the performance, the venue remained noticeably quiet, with listeners absorbed in the music. The progression of ragas and the measured pace of the recital created an atmosphere of stillness, allowing the audience to engage closely with the experience. Rishabh Rikhiram Sharma presented a blend of traditional classical elements with a contemporary approach, maintaining a consistent focus on mindfulness and emotional balance throughout the set.
Jatin Goel, Executive Director, Omaxe Group, said, “Such events provide an opportunity for people to step away from their daily routines and experience something more reflective. Music, in many ways, helps create a sense of calm and connection. Through such initiatives, we aim to create spaces where people can come together, engage with culture, and spend meaningful time in a shared environment.”
