Jarnail Singh Appointed Punjab Regulating Chairman of Working Journalist Media Council
Chandigarh 21 May ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The Working Journalist Media Council, a registered Self-Regulating Body (SRB) for Digital Media Ethics under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, has appointed Jarnail Singh as the Regulating Chairman for Punjab. Today, at the Noida office of the Working Journalist Media Council, the organization’s Chairman Kumar Saurabh handed over the appointment letter and ID card to Jarnail Singh and provided guidelines regarding his responsibilities and work.
On this occasion, the National Chairman of the organization stated that Punjab is a border state of the country, and many social media channels there are operating freely without following any government guidelines. He said that their body will soon create awareness among such channels in Punjab and register them under the regulatory framework.Addressing the press conference, the newly appointed Punjab Regulating Chairman Jarnail Singh said that all channels in Punjab will now be made aware of government regulations and brought under the regulatory system. He also stated that he would make every effort to live up to the trust placed in him by the Working Journalist Media Council. National office bearers of the Working Journalist Media Council were also present on the occasion.
