Chandigarh 23 June ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Today, on June 23, 2026, the delegation of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Union Chandigarh met Director Social Welfare Department, Chandigarh Shri Navin Ji and gave him a memorandum of demands and a detailed discussion was held on the demands. The delegation was led by Federation President and Union Advisor Gopal Dutt Joshi, Vice President Rekha Gora and Union General Secretary Renu. The delegation included Poonam Rana Anita Khan, Paramjit Kaur, Simran Kaur, Simarjit Kaur, Babita, Paramjit Kaur.
In the meeting to give DC rate to the Anganwadi workers on the lines of Ponducherry and Kerala and till then increase the salary at the central and state level with immediate effect, cover the Anganwadi workers and helpers under medical ESI, implement summer and winter leave on the lines of Punjab, pay honorarium on time, provide at least 2 uniforms in a year, through face authorization app. To remove the problems in attendance, to cancel the order of dismissal of 7 crèche workers and helpers and to cancel the order of retirement of 7 workers and helpers in 60 years and to retire in 65 years under ICDS, to stop unnecessary warnings and threats of dismissal to the workers, to give 100 percent promotion to the helpers working in the Anganwadi and supervisors to the disabled. There was a long discussion on the demands of making etc.
The Director listened patiently to the demands raised by the delegation and agreed to them and assured the union to implement them in a scheduled manner within a certain time frame. Finally, the delegation handed over a memorandum to the director about the DC rate signed by more than 450 workers, which he assured to send to the administrator for appropriate action and also gave confidence to continue the process of increasing the honorarium during which the union thanked him.
