Chandigarh 20 June ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today said attempts by the ruling Aam Admi Party (AAP) to spread a false narrative regarding Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s deposition at Sri Akal Takht Sahib and its attempt to stage dharnas against the Shiromani Akali Dal had boomeranged. Addressing a press conference here, SAD Chief Spokesman Arshdeep Singh Kler said AAP had attempted to gherao and stage protest at district headquarters of the SAD but its attempts failed miserably as they could not muster support of requisite numbers despite help from the police force. He said the videos emerging from different districts of the state had made it clear that only a meagre number of AAP workers assembled on the call of the party making the entire attempt a flop show. Chandigarh Rotaractor Shubham Goyal Appointed President of SEARIC MDIO
Chandigarh 16 June ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Local young Rotaractor Shubham Goyal has been appointed as the President of the South East Asia Rotaract Information Centre (SEARIC) under the Rotaract Multi-District Information Organization (MDIO) for the Rotary year 2026–27. His installation ceremony was held during the prestigious Rotaract Leadership Program 2026. Shubham Goyal, who has previously served as the Past District Rotaract Representative (PDRR) of Rotary International District 3080, will now shoulder one of the most prestigious leadership responsibilities in the Rotaract movement across South and Southeast Asia. His appointment is a matter of pride not only for Chandigarh but also for District 3080.
SEARIC MDIO is a leading Multi-District Information Organization that works to connect, guide, and foster collaboration among Rotaract districts across South and Southeast Asia. The organization plays a vital role in strengthening Rotaract activities through leadership development, information sharing, networking, and inter-district cooperation. Over the years, Shubham Goyal has earned widespread recognition for his dynamic leadership, commitment to service, and ability to inspire young leaders. During his tenure as District Rotaract Representative of District 3080, he led the Chandigarh-centered district comprising Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and parts of Uttar Pradesh. Under his leadership, numerous impactful service projects were implemented, club engagement increased significantly, and new opportunities for youth leadership development were created.
His appointment as President of SEARIC MDIO reflects the trust and respect he enjoys within the international Rotaract community.
