Junior Premier League Under-13 Final: GNPS Red Wins Title by Defeating RKCA by 49 Runs
Chandigarh 15 June ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : In the Junior Premier League Under-13 final held at Guru Nanak Public School, Sector-36, GNPS Red delivered a stellar performance to defeat RKCA by 49 runs and clinch the title. PMS Banga attended the tournament's closing ceremony as the chief guest. Along with the chief guest, School Principal Gurnam Kaur Grewal, GNPS Cricket Academy coach Kaku, and organizer Jagteshwar Singh presented trophies and awards to the winning and runner-up teams, while also encouraging the young players to continue progressing in sports with hard work and dedication. In his address, Banga stated that such grassroots-level tournaments play a crucial role in grooming future cricket stars. Praising the organizing committee, he remarked that providing a competitive platform for children is the need of the hour.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, the GNPS Red team posted a strong total of 152 runs for the loss of two wickets in 20 overs. The hero of the victory was wicketkeeper-batsman Udbhav, who played a magnificent unbeaten innings of 79 runs. His 61-ball knock included 10 fours and 2 sixes. He received excellent support from Riyansh Mittal, who scored 44 runs off 30 balls, including 7 fours. Both batsmen propelled the team to a commanding position. For RKCA, captain Aarush Gupta and Naksh claimed one wicket each. Chasing a target of 153 runs, the RKCA team lost wickets at regular intervals and was bowled out for 103 runs in 20 overs. Captain Aarush Gupta was the top scorer with 27 runs, while Manraj Singh (16 runs) and Akash (14 runs) made contributions but could not steer the team to victory. The GNPS Red bowlers also put up a magnificent performance. Sameer Jatyan claimed 4 wickets for just 14 runs, emerging as the most impactful bowler of the match. Akshbir took 2 wickets, while Chirag Singh, Riyansh Mittal, and Ayushman Ghanghas claimed one wicket each. Powered by a commanding performance in both batting and bowling, GNPS Red secured a one-sided victory in the final and clinched the trophy.
