Minerva Academy FC wins the 6-a-Side Royal Championship by defeating Chandigarh Football Academy
Chandigarh 6 June ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Minerva Academy FC’s young warriors continued their remarkable run of success by clinching the Royal 6-a-Side Championship held at Vivek International School, Chandigarh, after defeating CFA (Chandigarh Football Academy) in a thrilling final.What made the triumph even more special was that Minerva Academy FC fielded an Under-14 squad, while competing in the Under-17 category against older and physically stronger opponents throughout the tournament.
The tournament began with an emphatic 6-1 victory over Royal Phoenix, where the newly crowned AIFF Sub-Junior League Champions showcased their quality and attacking flair against an Under-17 side. The young Warriors carried their momentum into the knockout stages and defeated Phoenix Castle in the semi-final to secure a place in the title clash. In the final, Minerva Academy FC faced a strong Chandigarh Football Academy (CFA) side consisting entirely of Under-18 players. Despite the age difference, Minerva’s young stars displayed exceptional composure, skill, and determination.
The breakthrough came through Letgouhao Kipgen, who opened the scoring to give Minerva a 1-0 lead. Letgouhao Kipgen, who was the Best Player in the Subroto Cup 2025, once again rose to the occasion on the big stage. After CFA found an equalizer, Minerva responded in spectacular fashion. Letgowal Kipgen produced a brilliant solo effort, dribbling past defenders before calmly finishing to restore Minerva’s lead and make it 2-1, a scoreline that ultimately secured the championship title. The victory adds another prestigious trophy to Minerva Academy FC’s growing list of achievements and further highlights the academy’s commitment to developing young footballers in Chandigarh capable of competing successfully against older age groups.
