NAB organizes inclusive educational outing for visually impaired children in the City Beautiful
Chandigarh 15 June ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The National Association for the Blind (NAB), Chandigarh-Punjab, in collaboration with the National Association for the Blind (India), Mumbai, organized a special inclusive educational tour program for visually impaired children. Vinod Kumar Chadha, local president of NAB, stated that the program aimed to provide the children with an experience of Chandigarh's major tourist, educational, and historical sites, and to foster their social, educational, and self-confidence development.
During the tour, the children understood the architecture of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Punjab Legislative Assembly, and Haryana Secretariat in the Capital Complex through audio description. Expert guides also explained Le Corbusier's modern architecture. They also visited the famous shopping and cultural district of Sector 17 Plaza, where they experienced the vibrant activities and atmosphere of the city's public spaces. The children also visited the Rose Garden, where they were informed about various types of flowers, the natural environment, and the importance of environmental conservation. They then visited Punjab University, where they were briefed on higher education opportunities, the university campus, and student life. This experience inspired and instilled in them the confidence to pursue higher education.
Throughout the tour, the children interacted with the guides, satisfying their curiosity, and learning interesting information about the various sites. After the day's activities, a delicious meal was also provided. Speaking on the occasion, Vinod Kumar Chadha said that every child is special, and experiences like these provide them with the opportunity to discover their potential and understand the world from a new perspective.
