People’s Expectations Should Be Prioritized in Master Plan-2031 : Rahul Sharma
Chandigarh 11 June ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Following the completion of the process for submitting objections and suggestions on the Master Plan-2031, BJP state spokesperson Rahul Sharma has urged the Chandigarh Administration to prioritize the genuine needs and expectations of city residents while preparing the final draft of the plan. Sharma stated that the Master Plan is not merely a document but a crucial roadmap that will determine the direction of the city’s development for years to come. Therefore, he said, the administration should carefully examine all suggestions and objections received from stakeholders and residents.
He emphasized that key issues such as increasing the Floor Area Ratio (FAR) in industrial areas, permitting high-rise buildings, and addressing the city’s growing traffic congestion and parking challenges should be taken into account while making revisions to the plan. The BJP spokesperson noted that with Chandigarh’s expanding population, increasing commercial activities, and evolving urban requirements, it is essential to strike a balance between development and planned urban growth. He added that the views of stakeholders associated with industry, trade, housing, and infrastructure should also be given due consideration.
Sharma urged the administration to undertake a comprehensive review of all submissions and incorporate amendments that support sustainable urban development, improved traffic management, adequate parking facilities, and enhanced economic activity. He expressed confidence that decisions aligned with public sentiment would make Master Plan-2031 more practical and better suited to the city’s future needs.
