HBCH&RC Punjab commences 3-day ‘Cancer Conclave 2026’
New Chandigarh 21 August ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (HBCH & RC), Punjab, a unit of Tata Memorial Centre of the Department of Atomic Energy, on Friday, commenced the third edition of the Homi Bhabha Cancer Conclave (HBCC) 2026, a three-day academic conclave focused on “Multidisciplinary Management of Common Cancers” under the theme “Bridging Gaps in Oncology.” Hundreds of doctors from across the country, have registered to attend the academic conclave. The conclave featured three specialised pre-conference workshops at HBCH & RC, New Chandigarh on Friday. The workshop, covering topics ‘Virtual Surgical Planning, Navigation and 3D Printing in Surgical Oncology’; ‘MRI in Prostate Cancer’; and ‘HER2 Testing in the Era of Precision Medicine’, provided participants with hands-on and interactive learning opportunities.
The main conference, which will be held at Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Chandigarh, on August 22 and 23, will be inaugurated by former member of NITI Aayog and former head of pediatrics department at AIIMS New Delhi, Dr Vinod Kumar Paul, as chief guest; and IIT Ropar director Dr Rajeev Ahuja as guest of honour. The conclave will feature dedicated scientific sessions on GI Oncology and Hematology on Saturday, while on Sunday, the conference will focus on Head & Neck Cancer, Thoracic Oncology and Dental Rehabilitation. The conclave will also feature a Cancer Awareness Walkathon at Sukhna Lake on August 23, aimed at spreading awareness about cancer prevention and early detection of the disease. Chandigarh deputy commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav will be the Chief Guest for the walkathon.
While briefing about the conclave, HBCH&RC Director Dr Ashish Gulia, said, “HBCC has grown into an important academic platform for bringing together specialists from diverse disciplines and creating meaningful dialogue around the complexities of cancer care. This year, we are particularly focused on bridging the gaps between knowledge and clinical practice through evidence-based discussions, practical learning and multidisciplinary collaboration. We remain committed to raising the standards of oncology education in North India and providing young professionals with opportunities to learn from and engage with leading experts in the field.”
