Sawan Teej Festival 2026 Celebrated with Great Fanfare in Sector 42
Chandigarh 21 August ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The Sawan Teej Mahotsav 2026 was celebrated with great enthusiasm and grandeur in Sector 42. The event was organized by the Mahila Mandal of Sector 42, with a large number of women and residents participating enthusiastically. This grand Teej festival was organized through the efforts and support of former Senior Deputy Mayor and Ward No. 24 Councilor, Jasbir Singh Bunty. During the event, the entire venue was attractively decorated, offering a beautiful glimpse of the traditional culture and vibrant colors associated with Teej.
On this occasion, swings were specially installed for women, and an attractive selfie point themed around the "Teej Mahotsav 2026" was set up. The beats of the *dhol*, DJ music, songs, and entertaining performances created a joyful atmosphere. Special arrangements for food and refreshments—including *chaat-papdi* and *langar*—were also made for the attendees. Various competitions were organized during the event to encourage women's talent and participation, and the winners were honored with awards. These included titles such as "Saadgi," "Teej Ki Rani," "Patola," and "Punjabi Mutiyar." On this occasion, Neelam Sharma, President of the Mahila Mandal, Sector 42, welcomed all the women and guests present. Thanking Councilor Jasbir Singh Bunty for the successful organization of the Teej festival, she remarked that such events provide women with an opportunity to connect with one another and to promote our traditional culture.
At the event, Usha Sharma entertained the audience by performing Haryanvi and Himachali folk songs. Meanwhile, renowned singer Meet Gurmeet captivated the crowd with brilliant musical performances and kept them laughing with his amusing jokes. The stage for the Teej festival was specially decorated to showcase Indian rural and traditional culture. Items such as a spinning wheel (*charkha*), a traditional flour mill, a swing (*peeng*), and various objects associated with rural life were displayed on the stage. The aim of this special décor was to acquaint children and the new generation with their rich heritage, traditions, and culture. 
Speaking on the occasion, Councilor Jasbir Singh Bunty remarked that Teej is not merely a festival but a symbol of our rich culture, traditions, and mutual brotherhood. He noted that such events aim to connect our daughters and children with their roots and cultural heritage. He expressed his gratitude to the entire team of the Mahila Mandal, all collaborators, and the residents of the sector for making the event a success. Throughout the event, women, dressed in traditional attire, enjoyed Teej songs, swings, music, and various entertaining activities. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm, high spirits, and joy.
