We Fully Support the Punjab Bandh Call Given by Qaumi Insaaf Morcha : Giani Harpreet Singh
Chandigarh 17 August ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Shiromani Akali Dal Punar-Surjit President Giani Harpreet Singh has announced his organization’s full support for the Punjab bandh call given for August 21. The Qaumi Insaaf Morcha, which has been protesting at the Chandigarh border for the release of Bandi Singhs, has given the call for the bandh. The bandh has been called in support of the release of Bandi Singhs and against the alleged use of force during the peaceful march organized by the Morcha on August 15, as well as the registration of cases against its leaders.
Giani Harpreet Singh said that the government is not only refusing to release the Singhs but is also attempting to suppress the voices demanding their release through force and the registration of cases. He appealed to justice-loving people across Punjab to cooperate in observing a complete bandh on August 21 and give a strong response to what he described as government high-handedness. He said that the leaders and workers of his organization would join the people and work to make the bandh successful, so that pressure could be built on the governments to secure the release of Singhs who, despite completing their sentences, have remained incarcerated for decades.
