The special thing of the day was that thousands of more farmers arrived from different villages of Punjab. All the organizations gathered in front of the stage in large convoys under the leadership of their respective leaders. The protest became even stronger with the echo of slogans. While a large number of farmers arrived, hundreds of women also participated. Thousands of people listened to the speakers' views with great interest. Central University of Punjab Celebrates Teachers’ Day with Enthusiasm
Bathinda 3 September ( PDL ) : Central University of Punjab (CU Punjab) celebrated Teachers’ Day with enthusiasm to honour the contribution of teachers and recognise their important role in guiding and shaping the lives of students. The programme was organised by the students of the School of Education under the patronage of Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ramakrishna Wusirika and brought together senior university officials, faculty members and students for a meaningful celebration. The event was attended by senior officials of the University, including Dr. Vijay Sharma, Registrar; Prof. Anjna Munshi, Director R&D; Prof. Monisha Dhiman, Director, IQAC; Prof. Sanjeev K. Thakur, Dean Students’ Welfare; Prof. B. P. Garg, Controller of Examinations; Prof. Rajkumar Sharma, Finance Officer; Prof. P. K. Mishra, Associate DIA; Prof. Shankar Lal Bika, Former Dean & HOD; and Dr. Sesadeba Pany, ITEP Coordinator.
As part of the ceremony, the dignitaries paid floral tribute to Former President of India Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, whose birth anniversary is celebrated as Teachers’ Day in India. They also participated in the ceremonial watering of the Triveni, symbolising growth, knowledge and continuity. The programme began with a welcome address by Prof. Shamshir Singh Dhillon, HOD and Dean, School of Education, who, on behalf of the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ramakrishna Wusirika, extended warm greetings to all the teachers and dignitaries present on the occasion.
The dignitaries also shared their thoughts on the occasion and appreciated the efforts of teachers in the academic and overall development of students. They encouraged students to value their teachers and recognise them not only as educators but also as mentors and guides. Students expressed their gratitude to their teachers through a special Teachers’ Day speech delivered by Samrita Pany. The cultural programme added colour and warmth to the celebration. Shagun presented a welcome dance, followed by a melodious welcome song by Sameera. A Punjabi song was by Harpreet Singh, and poetry recitations were done by Azad, Harsh Kumar and Abu Zarr.
A departmental video presentation was also screened, capturing memorable moments and highlighting the contribution of faculty members. The presentation brought smiles and appreciation from the audience and added a personal touch to the celebration. CU Punjab’s Teachers’ Day celebration concluded on a warm and appreciative note, celebrating the special bond between teachers and students.
