Olympian Kuldip Singh Bhogal ‘Deepi’ Arrives in Chandigarh to Launch His Autobiography at Sikhlens: Sikh Arts & Film Festival 2026
Chandigarh 23 February ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The organizers of Sikhlens: Sikh Arts & Film Festival 2026 have announced the arrival of legendary Olympic field hockey player Kuldip Singh Bhogal, affectionately known as “Deepi,” in Chandigarh. A historic figure in the sporting world, Bhogal represented Uganda at the 1972 Munich Olympics. His distinguished career later evolved into an accomplished coaching journey, during which he led the American and Canadian national hockey teams, as well as the British Airways team. Currently based in the United Kingdom, Deepi has travelled to Chandigarh to headline the 7th India edition of Sikhlens: Sikh Arts & Film Festival. The event will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Tagore Theatre.
Earlier today, Kuldip Singh Bhogal “Deepi” met with patrons of Sikhlens in India and members of the media, where he shared insights from his inspiring life journey. The highlight of his visit was the public launch of his autobiography, The Legend of 1972: Life, Hockey, and Beyond. He narrated compelling stories and personal reflections from his remarkable career and signed exclusive copies of his newly released book for his fans.Published under the Sikhlens Publications imprint, the book serves as a factual and emotional account of a life that spans multiple continents. It is a powerful blend of human resilience, sporting excellence, and global humanitarian connection, offering readers an inspiring and authentic story. “The Legend of 1972: Life, Hockey, and Beyond” will be officially available to readers on February 28 at the Sikhlens: Sikh Arts & Film Festival 2026.
