Warring supports demand for parole to Hawara
Pays homage to Radhey Shyam Malhotra
Says, Congress has always been at forefront to defend nation
Ludhiana 24 August ( PDL ) : Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today favoured the demand for parole to Jagtar Singh Hawara, saying parole is a legal right. Replying to a question during an informal conversation with reporters after paying homage to late Radhey Shyam Malhotra on his martyrdom anniversary here today, the PCC president said that there was nothing wrong if Hawara was granted parole. Paying tributes to Malhotra, who was gunned down by militants 39 years ago, the PCC president said that the Congress had made immense sacrifices in the fight against terrorism in Punjab. He said the Congress also guarded and protected the unity and harmony in Punjab which was threatened by divisive forces.
He said that some divisive forces were again trying to raise their head in Punjab. He expressed confidence that the Punjabis will defeat all sorts of divisive forces to preserve the unity and harmony, Punjab has always been known for. The Ludhiana MP also supported the demand for installing a statue of late Radhey Shyam Malohtra. “We owe such memorials to our martyrs who laid down their lives so that we could live in peace and harmony”, he added.
He expressed confidence that the Congress was at a strong and firm footing in Punjab and far ahead of others. He said, the entire rank and file of the party was unanimous on one thing that the AAP government must be thrown out and the Congress must form the government. Warring also attended and addressed a series of public meetings across the Ludhiana parliamentary constituency. He said, there was overwhelming enthusiasm among the party workers ahead of the elections as everybody wanted to get rid of the corrupt and incompetent Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab.
