Electricity employees' demonstration continues - Administration accused of bowing to the company's conditions.

Chandigarh 27 December ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The demonstration of electricity employees against handing over the department to a private company without fixing the service conditions and stake of the employees and without taking their option continued today as well and rallies were held in all the offices during the lunch break. Addressing the rallies, Union President Amrik Singh, former President Dhyan Singh, General Secretary Gopal Dutt Joshi, Vice President Gurmeet Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Swarn Singh, Vinay Prasad, Kashmir Singh, Pan Singh, Amit Dhingra, Virendra Singh, Lalit Singh, Satkar Singh, Ram Gopal, Kulwinder Singh, Jagtar Singh, Narendra Chaudhary, Surinder Singh and other officials alleged that the administration is going to handover the department to a private company without fixing the service conditions of the employees and without taking their option and is openly cheating the employees. The speakers said that instead of fixing the service conditions of the employees, the administration is making unnecessary statements by putting the company forward in this matter and by accepting unnecessary conditions in front of the private company, it has accepted the owner even before handover and is obeying the orders and is misleading the public and the employees. The service conditions are not being fixed, no option is being taken from the employees. Without their consent, a conspiracy is being hatched to loot their GPF deposited in the AG by putting it in the trust. The speakers questioned that how can anyone change the government status of the employees without asking them. Actually, the officials had to publish the transfer policy before issuing the tender, which has not been done even after 4 years. To hide the same mistake, mistakes after mistakes are being made again and again and the money of the employees' families is being looted in private trusts. That too without their consent, which is sheer injustice and atrocity. He questioned that the private company has no right to bypass the administration and make statements about the service rules of the employees. And it is the basic principle of the whole world that the private operator works for its own profits instead of the interests of the employees and the general public.
The speakers further said that the administration is talking of making a policy after handing over the department and is creating a misunderstanding that a transfer policy will be made after the handover which is baseless and illogical. He said that instead of having a direct and clear talk with the union, the officers are pulling back their hands by putting the company forward even before the handover and are washing their hands off the matter. He warned that the administration should immediately take a clear decision on the issues related to the employees and in this regard, the decision taken regarding the employees transferred from UT to MC, the decision taken regarding the employees of NTPC in which it was said that the employer cannot be changed without the consent of the employee and the decision should be taken keeping in mind the adjustment of the employees of Government Press in other departments etc., in relation to which detailed memoranda have been given to all the officers of the administration, but instead of paying attention to it, provocative actions are being taken again and again, which will not be tolerated at any cost. Demanding complete cancellation of privatization, he warned that a huge protest rally will be held on 31 August 2024 and a memorandum will be submitted collectively by marching to the Governor's House.
