Traditional Punjabi Boliyan and Gidda Add Cultural Charm; Message Given to Preserve Heritage and Connect the Younger Generation with Punjabi Culture
S.A.S.Nagar 21 August ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Women officials and employees of the Punjab Education Department celebrated the festival of Teej with great enthusiasm and fervour in Mohali today. The programme was presided over by Madam Sarabjit Kaur. Women participated in the celebrations dressed in traditional Punjabi attire, presenting a vibrant glimpse of Punjab’s rich cultural heritage.
The programme was attended by Director Saktar Singh Ball, PCS, Director Primary Harkirat Kaur Chane, Director SCERT Kiran, Registrar Education Department Baljinder Kaur, PA to Director Asha, Sarabjit Kaur Rekhi, Superintendent Sandeep Kaur, Superintendent Paramjit Kaur, along with Reena, Raman, Anita and other women officials and employees of the Education Department. The participants presented traditional Punjabi boliyan and gidda, creating a lively and colourful atmosphere.
The women officials and employees who participated in the programme were also honoured by the organisers with traditional Phulkari and bouquets as a gesture of respect and appreciation. The organisers expressed their heartfelt gratitude to all the women officials and employees for their participation, saying that their presence added greatly to the grace and beauty of the celebrations and made the Teej programme memorable.
Speaking on the occasion, the participants said that festivals like Teej are not merely occasions for celebration but also an important way of preserving Punjabi language, folk art, traditional attire, music and cultural heritage for future generations. They emphasised that such programmes play an important role in connecting today’s younger generation with its roots and keeping Punjab’s rich cultural traditions alive.
