Bajwa seeks actions from EC after cash and liquor were seized from a Punjab-registered car with Punjab Government sticker
Chandigarh 30 January ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : After the Delhi Police seized Rs 8 lakh in cash, liquor bottles, and AAP pamphlets from a Punjab-registered car with a Punjab Government sticker on it, the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Assembly, Partap Singh Bajwa, on Thursday accused the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government of attempting the lure the voters in poll-bound Delhi with money and liquor. Senior Congress Leader Bajwa urged the election commission to take serious note of the same to restore the integrity of the democratic process. "The Aam Aadmi Party that boasts about being the flag bearer of democratic values and principles has now stooped to such a low level that it could do anything to win elections," Bajwa added. Lashing out at the AAP government in Punjab for violating the election processes in the state, Bajwa said that in the recently held mayor elections in Amritsar, the AAP government misused the official machinery and bureaucracy to elect its own candidate for mayor's post undemocratically. Similarly, in the panchayat elections and assembly by-polls, the AAP resorted to muscle power, and misused police and administrative machinery. "It has already been proven that the so-called kattar Imandar (staunch honest) party is not so imandar actually. It does not shy away from adopting any tactic to influence voters," Bajwa stated. In a statement, Bajwa said that the AAP is not only breaching the sanctity of the electoral process but the AAP's Punjab government also squandering Punjab's exchequer on Delhi elections. The entire Punjab cabinet has camped in Delhi for campaigning leaving Punjab at the mercy of the god.
