Baliawal Predicts BJP's Momentum Will Lead to a Resounding Win in Punjab in 2027

Chandigarh 30 January ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaaliwal ) : In a historic victory, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has defeated the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-Congress alliance in the Chandigarh mayoral elections. BJP candidate Harpreet Kaur Babla secured 19 votes, while the AAP-Congress alliance’s candidate, Prem Lata, received 17 votes. BJP’s Punjab spokesperson, Pritpal Singh Baliawal, stated that he had already predicted the Congress party’s decision not to field its own candidate, instead supporting AAP in the Chandigarh mayoral elections. He claimed that by winning the mayoral position, the BJP has exposed the Congress-AAP alliance, proving that both parties are internally united while misleading the public. Baliawal emphasized that although the people of Punjab helped Congress win seven seats in the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress-AAP alliance now stands exposed before the public. He asserted that this will directly impact the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections. He also recalled that Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring had declared during the Amritsar mayoral elections that, despite Congress and AAP being part of the INDIA alliance at the national level, Congress had no past, present, or future association with AAP. However, the Chandigarh mayoral elections have proven his claims false. Congress’s decision not to field its own candidate and instead support AAP in the mayoral election clearly indicates that both Congress and the ruling party in Punjab are deceiving the people for their own political gains. With this truth coming to light, Congress candidates who contested the Amritsar mayoral elections now feel betrayed and are questioning whether there was a pre-planned “friendly match” in Amritsar as well. Baliawal further stated that with a BJP mayor taking charge of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation, the city’s development will gain new momentum. Several crucial decisions aimed at enhancing the world-renowned identity of “The City Beautiful” will be taken, ultimately benefiting the people of Chandigarh.
