Roundglass Hockey Academy’s Arshdeep Singh and Princedeep Singh Selected in the Indian Squad for FIH Pro League 2024-25
S.A.S.Nagar 31 January ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Roundglass Hockey Academy (RGHA) athlete Arshdeep Singh and Princedeep Singh were named in the 32 member Indian national team for the upcoming eight matches of the FIH Pro League 2024-25 which will take place in February at the Kalinga Hockey Stadium, Bhubaneswar. Both the athletes were regular in the Junior India Hockey team and have impressed the national coach with their performance in the ongoing Hockey India League to earn their first call-ups for the senior national side which will be captained by Harmanpreet Singh. The 20-year-old Arshdeep Singh, from Amritsar, and Pathankot born Princedeep were integral part of the junior Indian team that won the 2024 Men’s Hockey Junior Asia Cup in Oman. Arshdeep made a significant impact in attack, scoring six goals, whereas Princedeep played a crucial role between the posts throughout the title winning campaign. Arshdeep has been with Roundglass Hockey Academy since 2021, while Princedeep joined in 2022. Both Arshdeep and Princedeep are currently playing in the ongoing Hockey India League for Hyderabad Toofans and Tamil Nadu Dragons, respectively, helping their teams secure semi-finals berth. In the Hockey India League auction last year, Toofans picked Arshdeep Singh for Rs 11.50 lakh and Princedeep Singh went to Tamil Nadu Dragons for Rs 5 lakh. Sharing his thoughts on the selection, Dronacharya award winner, Olympic Gold medalist and Technical Lead of Roundglass Punjab Hockey Academy, Rajinder Singh said, “The selection of Arshdeep and Princedeep for the senior national camp is a proud moment for Roundglass Hockey Academy. It reflects the progress we are making in nurturing young talent and preparing them for international success. Their hard work and dedication, along with the relentless support of our coaching and support staff, have been instrumental in this achievement. We are confident that they will seize this opportunity and continue to make an impact at the highest level.” Team India will start their campaign with matches against Spain, Germany, Ireland, and England, playing each team twice from February 15 to 25, 2025.
