NSSO Regional Office, Chandigarh Celebrates 19th Statistics Day
Chandigarh 29 June ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : In recognition of the remarkable contributions made by Professor P.C. Mahalanobis in the fields of economics, planning, and the development of statistics, the Regional Office, Chandigarh of the National Statistical Office (NSO) celebrated the 19th Statistics Day, 2025 on 29th June at the Mini Hall, Kendriya Sadan, Sector-9, Chandigarh. The event marked the birth anniversary of the Father of Indian Statistics, Prof. P.C. Mahalanobis. This year’s theme is “75 Years of the National Sample Survey.” The event was inaugurated by Shri Deepak Mehra, Deputy Director General, NSSO (FOD), RO Chandigarh, who shared insights into the life and contributions of Prof. Mahalanobis. On this occasion, Pavitar Singh, Director (Retd.), Press Information Bureau (PIB), served as the Guest of Honour and highlighted Prof. Mahalanobis’s invaluable role in strengthening the Indian statistical system. He also underscored the importance of statistics in everyday life.
