He also demanded Rs 50 crore to Rs 70 crores annual research grant for the Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana to improve the research facilities for better agriculture. The Ludhiana MP made a strong case for providing debt relief to the small and marginal farmers through one time settlement by waiving off their interests. Jammu 30 October ( PDL ) : In a significant step towards increasing non-fare revenue, the Jammu Division of Northern Railway has successfully awarded the contract for setting up multipurpose (MPS) stores at various railway stations including Banihal, Anantnag, Srinagar, Sangaldan, Budgam, and Baramulla to the successful bidder.

Details of e-auction:-

1. The multipurpose stall at Banihal Railway Station has been allotted through e-auction for a period of five years at a total cost of ₹11,02,037, with an amount of ₹1,86,786 charged for each year.

2. The allotment of multipurpose stalls through e-auction at Anantnag Railway Station has been done for a total of ₹15,55,240 for five years. An amount of ₹2,63,600 will be charged for each year.

3. The allotment of multipurpose stalls through e-auction at Srinagar Railway Station has been done for a total of ₹16,84922 for five years. An amount of ₹2,85,580 will be charged for each year.

4. The allotment of multipurpose stalls through e-auction at Sangaldan Railway Station has been done for a total of ₹8,77,837 for five years. An amount of ₹1,48,786 will be charged for each year.

5. The allotment of multipurpose stalls through e-auction at Srinagar Railway Station has been done for a total of ₹4,16,274 for five years. An amount of ₹70,555 will be charged for each year.

6. The allotment of multipurpose stalls through e-auction at Budgam Railway Station has been done for a total of ₹6,19,500 for five years. An amount of ₹1,05,000 will be charged for each year.

7. The allotment of multipurpose stalls through e-auction at Budgam Railway Station has been done for a total of ₹4,42,500 for five years. An amount of ₹75,000 will be charged for each year.

8. The allotment of a multipurpose stall at Banihal Railway Station through e-auction has been done for a total of ₹416,274 for five years, with a fee of ₹70,555 per year.

9. The allotment of a multipurpose stall at Baramulla Railway Station through e-auction has been done for a total of ₹829,274 for five years, with a fee of ₹140,555 per year.

This reflects the Division's continued focus on innovation and passenger-centric development. The store will offer a wide range of items needed by passengers, including medicines, cosmetics, newspapers, books, toys, children's items, and daily use items. This initiative was implemented through a transparent e-auction process, ensuring fairness and maximum revenue generation. This auction will generate a total revenue of ₹79,43,858 for Indian Railways over a period of five years. This auction is a significant step towards modernization of railways and better utilization of resources. Today, a major and historic successful e-auction process was completed for train number 12414. The SLR of train number 12414 was charged for a total amount of ₹1,08,57,789 for three years.

Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Division, said:

"Increasing non-fare revenue while promoting local employment is perfectly aligned with our twin goals of cultural integration and financial sustainability. We are confident that this store will enrich the passenger experience and serve as a model for similar initiatives at other stations." He further explained that as a result of intensive marketing efforts undertaken by the division, the SLR of train number 12414 was allotted on a three-year contract. This is a significant achievement. This is the first time in the division that multipurpose stalls have been allotted to various stations through successful e-auctions. This will help the Railways generate additional revenue and open up new employment opportunities. This move is part of Indian Railways' comprehensive strategy to effectively monetize station spaces and promote regional art, culture, and entrepreneurship.
