Sidhu said that the significant hike in gas cylinder prices in a single day proves that the BJP government neither cares about small businesses nor about the kitchens of ordinary households. People who are already burdened by inflation, unemployment, and taxes are now being further oppressed by rising gas prices. Gate meetings were held today at the Water Supply Booth in Sector 4, the Horticulture Booth in Sector 23, and the Electricity Office in Sector 23.

Chandigarh 31 October ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Gate meetings were held today at the Water Supply Booth in Sector 4, the Horticulture Booth in Sector 23, and the Electricity Office in Sector 23, at the call of the Federation of UT Employees and Workers, Chandigarh, in preparation for the strike being held on November 12, 2025, at the Municipal Corporation Office in Sector 17. Addressing the gate meetings, Federation President Rajendra Katoch, General Secretary Harkesh Chand, Chairman Gopal Dutt Joshi, Water Supply President Harpal Singh, CMC Horticulture General Secretary M Subramaniam, UT Powermen Union President Amrik Singh, and Senior Vice President Sukhwinder Singh Sidhu strongly condemned the administration and municipal authorities for their negative attitude towards the demands. 

They alleged that due to the officials' adamant attitude, the problems of the employees are increasing day by day, but the administration and municipal authorities are not taking any positive steps to resolve the problems. The outsourced employees did not even receive their salaries before Diwali, making the Diwali celebrations dull, and two months' salaries are still pending. The speakers said that the dharna and demonstration on November 12th was to implement the Seventh Pay Commission report and release arrears, Modified Assured Career Progression, all allowances including uniforms, regularize all daily wage contract employees who have completed 10 years, free outsourced employees from contractors and bring them directly under the departments, implement equal pay for equal work for all temporary employees and stop the retrenchment of outsourced employees, immediately reinstate the french workers who were dismissed and forcibly retired and restore their previous salaries, cancel the decision to hand over the parks and green belts under the MC Horticulture Department to societies through MoUs, extend the date of tenders already running in the Engineering Department of MC and issue new tenders soon, and release the withheld salaries of outsourced employees immediately, and pay arrears at DC rate to all, and pension and gratuity to retired employees. This is being done in support of demands for prompt disbursement of all benefits. He appealed to all employees to participate in large numbers in the Dharna on November 12, 2025.
