Congress demands Rs 51,000 for women instead of Rs 3000 Warring jabs  Kejriwal over claims of world’s largest women empowerment scheme Cites Congress ruled Karnataka, Telangana where women are getting more cash assistance Chandigarh 22 June ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today demanded that the Aam Aadmi Party government must pay Rs 51,000 to each and every woman in Punjab as it had promised before the 2022 elections. He accused the AAP government of cheating the women of Punjab by denying them the cash assistance for four and a half years and paying them peanuts at the end of the term. He said, people of Punjab, women in particular understand the AAP’s designs that the cash assistance was started just ahead of elections. Warring also ridiculed the AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal’s claims that the Punjab government scheme was “world’s largest women empowerment” scheme. “This is a characteristic and classic lie by Kejriwal”, he remark...

Chandigarh 28 November ( Ranjeet Singh Dhgaliwal ) : Today, on November 28, 2025, the general meeting of the Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Union was held under the chairmanship of President Neelam Kumari. Opening the proceedings, Union General Secretary Renu demanded that Anganwadi workers and helpers be given DC rate on the lines of Pondicherry and Kerala. Duty hours should be fixed. TA, DA, and medical allowances should be provided. Honorarium should be paid on time. Problems with attendance being recorded through the Face App should be resolved, and helpers should be given exemptions. Summer and winter holidays should be granted. Anganwadi workers and helpers should be given experience benefits in promotions, and qualifications should be relaxed.The general meeting was addressed by Gopal Dutt Joshi, Secretary of the All India State Government Employees Federation, Rajendra Katoch, President of the Federation of UT Employees and Workers, Chandigarh, and M.M. Subrahmanyam, Vice President. They strongly supported the demands of Anganwadi workers and condemned the Social Welfare Department officials for their negative attitude towards the demands. They warned that if the demands were not discussed and a solution was not found, a protest would be held in front of the Social Welfare Department office. The general meeting also passed a resolution to repeal four labor codes. Union Vice President Damyanti, Vimala, Joint Secretary Paramjit Kaur, Jasvir Kaur, Press Secretary Babita, Rekha, Poonam Vashisht, Anju Dogra, Usha, and Bihari Lal, Convenor of the Joint Committee of Anganwadi and Creche Workers, also addressed the meeting, demanding immediate implementation of the demands and appealing to Anganwadi workers to ensure the union and federation's struggles are successful.
