A Living Tribute to Punjab’s Heritage: Dr. M.S. Randhawa Memorial Museum to Be Established in Bodal Village
Satinder Sartaaj along with the Randhawa family visits the ancestral home
Chandigarh/Hoshiarpur 30 January ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : In a historic initiative aimed at preserving and passing on Punjab’s rich intellectual and cultural legacy to future generations, the ancestral home of renowned scholar, administrator, and cultural thinker Dr. M. S. Randhawa in his native village Bodal will be developed as a living memorial museum. The visionary concept has been initiated and led by eminent scholar and artist Dr. Satinder Sartaaj, with the objective of reconnecting younger generations with Punjab’s intellectual, cultural, and environmental heritage. Demonstrating remarkable generosity and commitment, the Randhawa family has agreed to dedicate the ancestral house for this public and educational purpose.
Dr. Satinder Sartaaj has long advocated for honoring Punjab’s great thinkers and visionaries who laid the foundations of modern cultural thought but did not always receive due recognition. Acknowledging Dr. Randhawa’s immense contributions to art, culture, agriculture, administration, and the shaping of Punjabi identity, he proposed transforming the ancestral residence into a museum and knowledge center.
The initiative has received wholehearted support from Dr. Randhawa’s family as well as the residents of Bodal village. Villagers have come forward collectively, viewing the project as a matter of pride for the village and the entire region. The proposed museum will function as a cultural and educational hub, showcasing Dr. Randhawa’s life, writings, vision, and lasting impact. It will also host discussions, exhibitions, and programs focused on heritage conservation, environmental awareness, and Punjabi intellectual traditions.
Speaking on the occasion, representatives associated with the initiative emphasized that the museum is not merely a memorial, but a living institution—one that bridges the past and the present, ensuring that Dr. Randhawa’s ideas continue to inspire and guide future generations. Further details regarding the museum’s structure, programs, and public engagement plans will be announced in the coming months.
