A grand procession of Lord Ayyappan was organised with great devotion and enthusiasm.
Chandigarh 31 March ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : As part of the annual rituals at the Sri Karthikeya Swamy Temple in Sector 31D and the Sri Ayyappa Temple in Sector 47C, Chandigarh, a grand and spiritually significant procession of Lord Ayyappan was held today with great devotion and enthusiasm. A large number of people from the Tamil community, including S.P. Rajasekharan, General Secretary of the Chandigarh Tamil Sangam, were present on the occasion. S.P. Rajasekharan explained that as part of this unique and centuries-old tradition, the procession proceeded with full ceremonial procession to the Lord Karthikeyan Temple and then returned to the Ayyappa Temple. This ritual symbolizes the divine brotherhood between Lord Ayyappan and Lord Karthikeyan, who are worshipped as brothers in the Hindu tradition.
This sacred practice also represents a powerful example of cultural integration and unity among the Malayalam and Tamil communities living in Chandigarh. The event reflects mutual respect, harmony, and shared spiritual heritage among devotees.Notably, this meaningful tradition has continued without interruption for the past 30 years; with each passing year it has grown stronger and has seen increasing participation from devotees from different communities. He said that devotees, community members and temple officials actively participated in this year's festival, further strengthening the spirit of unity, devotion and brotherhood. The organisers expressed their gratitude to all the participants and reiterated their commitment to preserving and promoting traditions that strengthen cultural bonds and communal harmony.
