Chandigarh Tamil Sangam Distributes Bicycles, Stationery, Shoes, and Books to Needy ChildrenChandigarh 29 March ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The Chandigarh Tamil Sangam (Tamil Manram Regd.) successfully organized its 11th annual "Vidya Danam" program on March 29, 2026, at Bharati Bhawan, Sector 30-B, Chandigarh. Presided over by the General Secretary of the Chandigarh Tamil Sangam, S.P. Rajasekaran, the event witnessed the distribution of stationery items, books, shoes, and bicycles to 650 needy children from various schools across the Tricity region. J.M. Balamurugan, IAS, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
General Secretary S.P. Rajasekaran stated that the Chandigarh Tamil Sangam is a distinguished organization that has been actively engaged in social service, as well as the preservation and promotion of its culture and traditions, for the past 56 years. The Sangam plays a pivotal role in community welfare through various social, cultural, and educational activities, serving as an exemplary model of service that transcends regional boundaries. Continuing this noble tradition, the Chandigarh Tamil Sangam today extended its support to 650 needy children through the "Vidya Danam" ceremony.
He further detailed that, as part of the program, 25 bicycles, 300 school bags, 650 notebooks, 650 books, 650 sets of stationery items, and 200 pairs of shoes were distributed to the children. This initiative aims to encourage and empower them to pursue their education with renewed confidence and inspiration. Chief Guest J.M. Balamurugan remarked that the Chandigarh Tamil Sangam is performing a noble service for society. He lauded the organization's efforts to promote education among underprivileged children through the "Vidya Danam" initiative. He added that it is truly heartening to witness their dedication toward nation-building by supporting the education of children hailing from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
