38th Annual General Meeting of SBI Pensioners Association, Chandigarh Circle Held at Panjab University

Chandigarh 11 May ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The 38th Annual General Meeting of the State Bank of India Pensioners Association (SBIPA), Chandigarh Circle, was held on 10th May 2026 at the Law Auditorium, Panjab University, Chandigarh, amidst enthusiastic participation from pensioners across the Circle. The meeting was presided over by Vijay Magon, Circle President, SBIPA Chandigarh Circle. The event was graced by the presence of distinguished dignitaries including Krishan Sharma, Circle Chief General Manager, SBI Chandigarh Circle; Neeraj Bharti, General Manager; Kajal Kumar Bhowmik, DGM & CDO; Federation leaders  G.D. Nadaf, General Secretary, FSBIPA, and N. Radhakrishnan, President, FSBIPA; Priyavrat, General Secretary, SBIOA Chandigarh Circle; Rajiv Sirhindi, President, SBIOA; Iqbal Singh Malhi, General Secretary, SBISA; Satish Kumar Jhingan, President, SBISA; V.K. Malhotra, President, SBIPA Delhi Circle; and S.K. Gagroo, General Secretary, Delhi Circle. The proceedings commenced with the honouring of dignitaries followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Children presented a colourful Ganesh Vandana with rhythmic yoga, adding ancient cultural fervour to the occasion.

Dr M.K. Virmani, Circle General Secretary, while delivering welcome address informed the house about the historic unanimous elections of the Circle Association. He also highlighted the achievements and activities undertaken by the Association during the past two years. Comrade Amarpal Chairman of the Circle Association, highlighted the concerns of pensioners. Addressing the gathering, Circle CGM Krishan Sharma elaborated on the welfare initiatives being undertaken by the Bank for retirees. Neeraj Bharti, GM, appreciated the valuable contribution made by retirees towards the growth and development of the Bank. Kajal Kumar Bhowmik , DGM & CDO, appreciated the constructive role played by the Pensioners Association in raising retirees’ issues with the management.

Priyavrat, General Secretary of SBIOA Chandigarh Circle, highlighted the coordinated efforts of SBIPA and SBIOA in resolving pensioners’ issues and assured continued cooperation and support. Iqbal Singh spoke on various common issues concerning retirees. S.K. Gagroo, General Secretary, Delhi Circle, elaborated upon the major pensioners’ issues and the efforts being made by the Federation for their resolution. N. Radhakrishnan, President, FSBIPA, shared the historical perspective of various pension revisions, anomalies, and the sustained efforts of the Federation in safeguarding pensioners’ interests. In his keynote address, G.D. Nadaf, General Secretary, FSBIPA, discussed in detail the medical facilities available to pensioners and highlighted their shortcomings. He strongly raised the demand for free medical insurance coverage for retirees. In his concluding remarks, Vijay Magon, Circle President, thanked all dignitaries, delegates, and participants from across the Circle for making the AGM a grand success.
