Municipal Committee and Corporation Elections to be Conducted with Complete Transparency and Honesty : Harchand Singh Barsat
Aam Aadmi Party State General Secretary Appeals to Candidates and Volunteers to Participate Enthusiastically in Elections
Chandigarh 14 May ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Harchand Singh Barsat, State General Secretary of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Punjab, and Chairman of the Punjab Mandi Board, stated that the upcoming Municipal Committee and Corporation elections will be conducted with complete transparency, honesty, and impartiality. He noted that people will cast their votes based on their personal preferences and for the development of their respective regions. He emphasized that in a democracy, the opinion of the people is paramount, and every citizen possesses the absolute right to exercise their franchise without any fear or coercion.
Appealing to the party's candidates, leaders, and volunteers, Barsat urged them to participate in the elections with full zeal and enthusiasm. He encouraged them to go door-to-door to establish direct contact with the public and to disseminate information regarding the developmental works being undertaken by the government. He highlighted that the Aam Aadmi Party government has worked honestly for the people of Punjab over the past four years—a performance with which the public is highly pleased.
He further stated that, under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state government has fulfilled all the promises it made over the last four years. Historic and pro-people decisions have been taken across the sectors of education, healthcare, electricity, employment, and public welfare. Initiatives such as improvements in government schools and hospitals, the provision of 600 units of free electricity to the public, government jobs for over 65,000 youths, medical treatment worth ₹10 lakh under the Chief Minister's Health Scheme, free bus travel for women, and a monthly stipend of ₹1,000 for women (and ₹1,500 for women belonging to the Scheduled Caste category) under the 'Chief Minister Maawan-Dhiyan Satkar Scheme' have further strengthened the common people's trust in the government. He reiterated that the public is satisfied with the government's performance and assured that these elections would be conducted in a completely peaceful and impartial manner.
The State General Secretary concluded by observing that the people have now clearly realized which political parties merely make promises and which party genuinely works for the welfare of the people. The Aam Aadmi Party has earned the trust of the people by fulfilling its promises. He asserted that in the elections for municipal corporations and municipal committees, the public—pleased with the work undertaken by the Aam Aadmi Party government as well as the performance of the candidates themselves—would extend overwhelming support to 'AAP' nominees and cast their votes in their favor. Barsat appealed to the people to participate enthusiastically in the voting process and to elect representatives who are honest, hardworking, and dedicated to public service.
