Who is responsible for the dilapidated state of parks and poor sanitation in Sector-88, SAS Nagar? : Gurpreet Kaur Ubha

S.A.S.Nagar 23 June ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Gurpreet Kaur Ubha, Councilor of Ward No. 41, SAS Nagar, expressed serious concern over the poor condition of parks under GMADA's jurisdiction and the dismal state of sanitation in Sector-88, Mohali. She stated that local residents are deeply distressed by the lack of park maintenance and the filth scattered all around. She noted that heaps of garbage have accumulated in various parts of the parks, with some areas resembling dumping grounds. Furthermore, the sanitation system across the entire area is in a deplorable state, and sanitary management appears to have completely failed, sparking significant resentment among local residents.

Gurpreet Kaur Ubha mentioned that complaints have been lodged with the concerned officials consistently over the past 10 days, yet no concrete action has been taken. She stated that multiple attempts were made to contact Mr. Pankaj, the SDO of GMADA's Horticulture Department, but he did not even deem it necessary to answer the phone—raising serious questions about official accountability.

She asserted that residents of Sector-88 have a right to clean, beautiful parks and a hygienic environment. Failure to ensure regular cleaning and maintenance of the parks, along with improvements to the area's sanitation system, would adversely affect both public health and the aesthetic appeal of the locality.

Gurpreet Kaur Ubha demanded that the GMADA administration, local authorities, and the Punjab government immediately clean the parks and the entire Sector-88 area, ensure regular maintenance, and hold the officials responsible for this negligence accountable. She said, "Residents of Sector-88 deserve clean parks and better amenities. We will continue to raise the people's voice at every level and ensure this issue is resolved."
