Virse De Waris to Celebrate Punjab’s Rich Cultural Heritage; Eminent Personalities to be Honoured
Chandigarh 21 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi (CSNA), in collaboration with the World Punjabi Heritage Centre, Chandigarh, will organise ‘Virse De Waris’, a grand celebration of Punjabi culture and heritage, on Saturday, July 25, at Rani Laxmi Bai Hall, Sector 38, Chandigarh, from 4 pm onwards.
The event will feature vibrant Punjabi folk music performances by artists trained at the Akademi, showcasing the richness of Punjab’s language, traditions and cultural legacy. The programme aims to promote and preserve Punjab’s heritage while inspiring the younger generation to stay connected with their roots. A major highlight of the event will be the presentation of the ‘Guardians of Heritage Award (Virse De Waris Award)’ to distinguished personalities from diverse fields in recognition of their outstanding contributions towards Punjabi culture, arts and society.
Among those to be felicitated are veteran actress Nirmal Rishi, noted writer Neena Tiwana, social worker Jatinder Kaur, legendary Punjabi singer Muhammad Sadiq, actress Sunita Dhir, educationist Dr Deepak Manmohan, folk singer Bai Hardeep, actor B.N. Sharma, actress Gurpreet Bhangu, singer Biba Gulshan Komal, singer Pammi Bai, singer Dolly Guleria, Ajaib Aujla, actor Shavinder Mahal, singer Amar Noorie, actor Malkit Rauni, actor-comedian Gurpreet Ghuggi, singer Hans Raj Hans, and several other eminent personalities.
CSNA Chairperson Dr Sukhminder Kaur Brar (Sukhi Brar) has invited art lovers and the general public to attend the programme and celebrate Punjab’s glorious cultural heritage. The event is expected to witness the participation of leading personalities from the fields of art, literature, music, theatre and social service.
