Slogans were raised against the Executive Engineer during the rally. During this, the Executive Engineer gave the organization a meeting time on 17-8-2026. District President Jagga Singh Alisher said that the payment of arrears to employees who have retired for a long time and the installments of Pay Commission arrears have been due since April, but the Divisional Office is continuously ignoring it. If the demands of the workers are not resolved during the meeting, the organization will prepare the outline of the next struggle. Addressing the meeting, Darshan Nangal, Amar Singh, Subhas Chand, Jagdev Singh, Manpreet Gurnaib Singh and Deep Singh leaders said that the demands have been conveyed to the Chief Executive Officer and Head Office officials of the Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board many times through deputations, correspondence and meetings. But so far, no attempt has been made by the Head Office to find a meaningful solution to any of the demands.
The fellow leaders demanded that the outsourced and unskilled workers who have been working for a long time should be made permanent. Even after doing very difficult work like cleaning the sewers by the unskilled workers in the department, the employees get very little wages. Therefore, a minimum salary of Rs. 30,000/= should be given per month. The employees of the Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board should be brought under the ambit of the old pension scheme. Employees working in the Sewerage Board are given dues after retirement such as leave encashment, gratuity, CPF. They are given with great delay. Arrangements should be made to pay dues together on time. Permanent recruitment should be made on the vacant posts in the department. Workers at many stations such as Bhucho Mandi, Mor Mandi, Kot Phatta etc. are not getting salaries for many months, arrangements should be made to pay salaries on time. Apart from this, leaders like Kiran Pal, Kulwant Singh, Balraj Budhlada, Gurdeep Singh, Gurjant Singh, Nauhar Chand, Mangan Singh, Harbans Singh Mandhali etc. participated in the meeting. Finally, provincial leader Sinderpal Singh Mansa said that if the demands of the employees are not resolved by the Sewerage Board officials, then as per the decision taken by the State Committee, a large number of colleagues from Mansa district will participate in the protest rally being held on 18.08.2026 at the Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board Sector 27 A Madhya Marg Head Office, Chandigarh.
