Chandigarh 10 August ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Youth Akali Dal president Gurjit Singh Talwandi, while addressing a press conference, alleged that after the meeting between the president of the “runaway faction” and the Prime Minister, there was a lot of noise from their side that an alliance with the BJP was going to be formed. However, Punjab affairs in-charge Nayab Singh Saini has burst their bubble by stating that the BJP will contest the elections independently in Punjab. Talwandi said that during the meeting with the Centre, Sukhbir Badal had a good opportunity to raise the issues of Punjab’s waters, Chandigarh, and the release of Bandi Singhs with the Prime Minister, but he missed this golden opportunity.
Talwandi alleged that the president of the “runaway faction,” who, while in power, had described the Bandi Singhs as agents of the ISI and murderers, would not genuineefforts for their release. S. Talwandi recalled that when Advocate Navkiran Singh had filed an appeal seeking the transfer of Bhai Davinderpal Singh Bhullar to a Punjab jail on medical grounds, Sukhbir Singh Badal, then Punjab’s Home Minister, had submitted an affidavit stating that bringing Bhai Bhullar to Punjab could disturb the situation in the state. However, he later continued to sing songs in support of the release of the Bandi Singhs outside Parliament for his own political benefit.
Welcoming the ongoing proceedings regarding the parole of Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara, Talwandi said that Giani Harpreet Singh had written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah thanking him for recommending Bhai Hawara’s parole through the governor. Talwandi also showed the media a copy of the letter written by Giani Harpreet Singh to Amit Shah. He also thanked Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, who himself has written a letter to the governor regarding Bhai Hawara’s parole.Talwandi said that tomorrow, August 11, on the occasion of the party’s anniversary, an Ardas will be offered at Sri Akal Takht Sahib for the Chardi Kala of the Panth and Punjab and for the release of the Bandi Singhs. He appealed to the entire Sikh sangat to reach Sri Akal Takht Sahib and participate in the Ardas.On this occasion, Malkit Singh Hundal, who recently resigned from the post of General Secretary of the Youth Wing of the Badal-led Akali Dal, joined the party. He was entrusted with the responsibility of working in the Majha region. In addition, Davinder Singh Sant Sipahi and Jagtar Singh Gill of Amritsar was also inducted into the party. Working Committee members Amaninder Singh Banni Brar and Tejinder Singh Pannu was also present on the occasion, along with Gurjit Singh Talwandi.
