Daily Waterlogging in Kajheri Leaves Residents Distressed, Water Reaching Homes — Social Workers Urge Municipal Corporation for Immediate Action
Chandigarh 4 September ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Residents of Village Kajheri, Sector-52, are facing serious inconvenience due to daily waterlogging in front of House Nos. 233 and 356, near Himachal Hotel. The stagnant water on the road has started reaching people’s rooms and houses, causing growing concern among local residents. According to residents, despite the recurring waterlogging, no permanent solution has been implemented so far. Prolonged water stagnation is also creating a risk of mosquito breeding and the spread of diseases such as dengue and malaria. Pedestrians, children and elderly residents are particularly facing difficulties while passing through the affected area.
Social workers Arvind Singh and Vikram Singh have urged the Municipal Corporation authorities to take the matter seriously and immediately depute the concerned team to the spot to ensure proper drainage of the accumulated water. They said that merely removing the stagnant water would not be sufficient. The actual cause of the recurring waterlogging should be identified and a permanent solution implemented, so that residents do not have to face the same problem repeatedly.
The two social workers have appealed to the Hon’ble Municipal Commissioner to take immediate action in view of the difficulties being faced by the residents of Kajheri and direct the concerned officials to inspect the site and undertake the necessary work on priority. Local residents have also expressed hope that the Municipal Corporation will take prompt and effective action to resolve the issue.
