Punjab Mandi Board Chairman assures of prompt action
S.A.S.Nagar 7 September ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Punjab Mandi Board Chairman Harchand Singh Bursat was met today by the office bearers of Punjab Mandi Board Employees Union and all grade three employees. On this occasion, all the employees including Union President Surinder Singh, General Secretary Mukesh Kumar, Vice President Gurpreet Singh, Press Secretary Harish Prasad, Cashier Bhupinder Singh, Sukhwinder Singh Gill apprised the Chairman about their demands and various issues related to the employees and demanded their early resolution.
The union representatives also raised the issue of service conditions of employees merged from Punjab Agro and the cases filed by them regarding their seniority. The union leaders brought to the notice of the chairman that in the orders of employees of Punjab Agro merged with Punjab Mandi Board, it was clarified that the seniority of these employees will be considered from the date of merger with Punjab Mandi Board and will be fixed below the seniority of the clerks previously appointed in Punjab Mandi Board.Apart from this, the union demanded that the employees of Punjab Agro working on deputation in Punjab Mandi Board should be sent back to their original departments immediately. The union leaders also demanded that in future, there should be a complete ban on taking employees of any other department or corporation on deputation or merging them. They said that this would help in preventing problems arising in the promotions, seniority and other matters related to service of the existing employees of Punjab Mandi Board. The settlement will not only create satisfaction among the employees but will also improve the functioning of the department. On this occasion, the union also submitted a memorandum to the chairman. Chairman Harchand Singh Bursat listened carefully to the demands of the representatives and assured that the Punjab Mandi Board would consider these demands sympathetically and take appropriate action as soon as possible. Bursat said that the Punjab government led by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is continuously striving for the welfare of every section of the state and is also committed to protecting the interests of the employees.
