Governments should abandon their arrogant attitude and hold talks with farmers : Gurpartap Singh Wadala

Chandigarh 5 September ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Shiromani Akali Dal Punar-Surjit General Secretary Gurpartap Singh Wadala, in a press statement, said that the farmer who feeds the people across the country is today being forced to take to the streets to demand his legitimate rights. However, instead of accepting their demands, the government is not even making an effort to engage with the farmers and find a solution.

The government should immediately abandon its arrogant attitude and hold talks with the farmers. He said that governments must remember that these villages of farmers, now living in trolleys along the roadsides, will certainly become the reason for bringing governments down. The very people whom the government appears to treat as enemies, and who are demanding their rights, are ultimately the ones who cast their votes and elect governments.

Earlier, instead of paying more than six lakh employees the money rightfully due to them, the government has also approached the Supreme Court. The insensitive leaders fail to understand how they expect to run governments while denying the legitimate rights of farmers and employees. At the conclusion of his statement, S. Wadala expressed complete solidarity with all farmers’ and employees’ organizations and said that the Akali Dal Punar-Surjit would actively support them in their struggle.
