Issue concerning truck body builders, pending for decades, will no longer remain buried in files: Association

Joint delegation meets Deputy Commissioner to advocate for the rights of Sirhind GT Road shopkeepers

Fatehgarh Sahib 14 September (PDL): A joint delegation comprising the Truck Body Builders Association, BJP, and Congress representatives met the Deputy Commissioner of Fatehgarh Sahib today to demand immediate action regarding the long-pending issue faced by truck-bus body builders and shopkeepers who have been operating on the Sirhind GT Road for decades. Delegation leaders Didar Singh Bhatti, Kuljit Singh Nagra, and Paramjit Singh Kanth stated that this is not merely a dispute over shops, but a serious matter concerning the rights, justice, and administrative accountability of families who have been struggling for their livelihood since 1990. They demanded an impartial inquiry into all government records concerning the *mandi* (market), allotments, compensation, and possession, so that the true facts could be placed before the public. 

Paramjit Singh Kainth said, "If everything is in order within the government records, why is there any hesitation in making them public? And if any wrongdoing has occurred, those responsible must be held accountable. Making small shopkeepers run from pillar to post at government offices for decades will no longer be tolerated." The delegation demanded a time-bound, high-level inquiry into the records of the Revenue Department, the Mandi Board, and other relevant departments dating back to 1990. They urged that facts regarding shop allotments, compensation, and financial transactions be made public to reveal the true nature of this long-standing issue. Kainth stated, "Governments change, but government records should not. Decisions in this matter must be based on the law, records, and facts, rather than on political pressure."

The delegation warned that if the Bhagwant Mann government did not take immediate action on this matter, the democratic struggle would be further intensified, and the government and administration would bear full responsibility for the consequences. The delegation included Harmeet Singh Saggu (President, Truck Body Builders Association, Sirhind), Balwinder Singh Kumbhra, Baba Labh Singh, Balwinder Singh Saharan, Meharpal Singh Vicky, Jaspreet Singh Kaka, Tarsem Singh Arhti, Harbhajan Singh Guddu, Sohan Singh, Rishu Gupta, Tilak Raj, Harish Kumar Kala, Jaswinder Singh Marwa, Harpal Singh, Kulwinder Singh Bunty, Tejinder Singh Garhe, Puneet Kumar Tholu, Ajaib Singh Bathoi, Jai Singh Bara, Harchand Singh Jakhwali, and Harjinder Singh Jangi.
