Need for united struggle on justice issues related to Punjab including the imprisoned Singhs: Gurpartap Singh Wadala, Gurjit Singh Talwandi.
Chandigarh 9 September ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : A delegation of Shiromani Akali Dal (Punarsurjit) participated in an important meeting called by the Qaumi Insaf Morcha in Chandigarh today and discussed the long pending justice issues related to the Sikh community. During the meeting, emphasis was laid on the need to further strengthen joint efforts regarding the release of Sikh prisoners, the issue of Sikh prisoners who have completed their sentences and other important issues related to the Sikh community.
On behalf of the Shiromani Akali Dal Punarsurjit, the party's patron Ravinder Singh, Secretary General Gurpartap Singh Wadala, Youth President Gurjit Singh Talwandi, Office Incharge Jagjit Singh Kohli and Media Incharge Tajinder Singh Pannu attended the meeting.Talking to reporters on this occasion, Youth President Gurjit Singh Talwandi said that the Shiromani Akali Dal Punarsurjit stands with the revived Qaumi Insaf Morch and will continue to take up the issues of justice related to the Sikh community with full seriousness. He said that keeping Sikh prisoners who have completed their sentences in jails for a long time despite their legal and constitutional rights raises questions on the basic principles of justice.
Talwandi said that the issue of the imprisoned Sikhs is not an issue of any one individual, family or political party, but is a matter related to justice, human rights and equal application of law. He said that this issue needs to be seen above political gains or vote politics. He said that the Shiromani Akali Dal (Punarsurjit) believes that the struggle for the legitimate and constitutional rights of the nation should continue in a peaceful, democratic and legal manner. He said that Sikh institutions, Panthic organizations and all political parties should rise above their differences and raise a common voice on such issues.The Youth President said that there is a deep concern among the youth of Punjab about these issues and the youth want that a principled and consistent approach should be adopted instead of political opportunism on sectarian issues. He said that the Shiromani Akali Dal Punarsurjit will continue to raise its voice strongly for the protection of justice, rights and sectarian ethics along with the revived youth. He concluded by saying that not only statements are needed to resolve issues related to national justice, but continuous efforts are needed at a solid legal, institutional and democratic level and the Shiromani Akali Dal (Punarsurjit) will support every effort in this direction that is for the achievement of justice and constitutional rights.
