PEC Signs MoU with Family of Late Sudhir Gupta to sponsor the engineering education fees of a female student at PEC
Chandigarh 14 September ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the family of Late Sudhir Gupta, PEC alumnus and Silver Medalist of the 1990 batch, to promote and support the education of a PEC female student. Under the initiative, the Gupta family has committed to sponsor the engineering education fees of a girl student at PEC, providing financial assistance to a deserving student pursuing professional engineering education. The initiative commemorates Gupta’s enduring association with his alma mater while creating a meaningful and lasting contribution towards empowering young women through education.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Dr. Rajesh Kumar Bhatia, Director (Ad-interim), PEC, and Dr. Rajesh Kanda, Dean, Alumni Relations, PEC. Representing the Gupta family were Daya Kishan Gupta, father; Rashmi Gupta, wife; Sunita Gupta, sister; and Aarush Gupta, son of Late Sudhir Gupta. Dr. Sandeep Kaur, Head, Department of Electrical Engineering, PEC, and a classmate of Late Sudhir Gupta, was also present on the occasion. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Rajesh Kumar Bhatia, Director (Ad-interim), PEC, paid tribute to the life and values of Late Sudhir Gupta, saluting his sacrifice and the ethical principles he upheld throughout his life.
He called upon the younger generation to draw inspiration from such exemplary individuals who remained committed to integrity and ethical values, emphasizing that their contributions and sacrifices deserve the same respect and recognition accorded to the sacrifices of our soldiers who dedicate their lives to the nation. Extending the MoU signing event, a Memorial Lecture was also organized in remembrance of Late Sudhir Gupta on the theme “Energy Security and Strengthening India’s Green Pathways.” The lecture was delivered by S. K. Sinha, Engineering Consultant, PNGRB, Government of India, and focused on the significance of energy security, sustainability, and India’s transition towards greener energy pathways.
The programme was coordinated and organized by Deepak Jain, Senior Solution Architect, Orange Business, a classmate and a close friend of Late Sudhir Gupta and PEC alumnus, who played a key role in facilitating the event. PEC expressed its gratitude to the Gupta family for transforming the memory of Late Sudhir Gupta into a lasting initiative that will support and empower a deserving girl student through engineering education.
