Reacting to the proposed ‘yatra’ of the BJP against drugs in Punjab, Warring said, it is indeed a fact that the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab has not only failed to curb the drugs, but has added to the problem. Chandigarh 4 September ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : On the auspicious occasion of Krishna Janmashtami on Friday, trucks carrying relief material were flagged off from Chandigarh for families affected by devastating floods in Nepal. The Guru Nanak Geeta Kailash Memorial Foundation, in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society, participated in the multi-institutional humanitarian relief initiative. Chandigarh Deputy Commissioner Nishant Yadav flagged off the trucks carrying essential relief supplies. Dr Santosh Kumar from PGIMER was also present on the occasion.
The launch of the relief mission on Janmashtami added a strong message of compassion, selfless service and humanity to the initiative. The relief material will be sent to flood-affected areas of Nepal, where thousands of families are facing challenges related to displacement, food, clean drinking water and healthcare. The consignment includes essential medicines to address emergency healthcare needs, bottled drinking water and large quantities of non-perishable food items. These include biscuit packets and ready-to-eat rations. The primary objective of the initiative is to ensure that essential food, clean water and medicines reach affected families at the earliest.
A representative of the foundation said natural disasters require a united response from all sections of society. Launching the relief effort on the sacred occasion of Janmashtami reinforces the values of service, compassion and care for those in distress. The foundation expressed gratitude to Chandigarh administration, Deputy Commissioner Nishant Yadav, the Indian Red Cross Society and all participating institutions for coming together to facilitate the relief effort. Logistics and last-mile distribution of the relief material in Nepal are being coordinated through the Red Cross network to ensure that supplies reach the worst-affected communities efficiently. Chandigarh administration and participating institutions will continue to monitor the situation and assess the need for additional relief supplies.
